Workshop on Child Social & Emotional Development
Second workshop for parents at learning curve was held on Sunday 29th March, 2009 .The focus was the child and his emotional development .It helped parents to understand their child’s emotions and feelings and how they are formed, Prevention is better then cures. So, if a parent knows why? the child is behaving the way he should not behave and embarrasses them in public can handle the situation before it gets out of hand next time.
Emotional misbalance create problems for the parent and the child at large and sorry to say that parents attitude and actions could be the cause of this misbalance and it reflects in a child’s personality.
Workshop leader emphasized that the childhood and adolescence are the critical windows of opportunity for setting down the essential emotional habits that will govern our lives. Children of this era are very sharp they form their conclusions on the basis of their observations and analysis. So we need to be extra careful! What we do is we leave the emotional education of our children to chance, with ever more disastrous results. And we label them as stubborn, uncooperative, and aggressive , where as by putting little effort and time we can inculcate essential human competencies in them like, self-esteem, self control, self-awareness ,cooperation along with this listening and resolving conflict skills can also be developed.
In the end the school principal Mr. Kashif Memon addressed the parents and shared his views and plans .He talked about the development of a whole child and how is it possible by creating innovative classrooms and stimulating lessons to bring together mind and heart in the classroom.
